Living organisms cannot survive without water. Hydrologists study water's presence in all of Earth's spheres:

Connection to Earth: Water constantly evaporates from oceans, lakes, soil, and living organisms, condenses in the atmosphere, and returns to Earth as rain or snow. This is the water cycle.
🌧️ How does the water cycle occur?
The water's journey starts at Earth's surface and rises to the atmosphere, then returns. This journey repeats continuously. Let's follow the droplet step by step:
Evaporation: When the sun heats water in oceans, lakes, and soil, liquid water turns into water vapor rising into the air.
Condensation: As vapor rises into cold atmospheric layers, it condenses into tiny droplets forming clouds.
Precipitation: When droplets grow heavy, they fall to Earth as rain, snow, or hail.
Runoff & collection: Water collects in rivers and lakes, or seeps underground to become groundwater.
Transpiration: Plants release water vapor from their leaves into the atmosphere, returning water to the cycle.

Did you know? Transpiration from plants is not simple; living organisms depend on it for water. It is an important part of the water cycle in nature.
Freshwater: A rare treasure
Although water covers most of Earth's surface, freshwater usable by us is very limited. Let's look at the numbers:
🌊97%
من ماء الأرض مالحof Earth's water is saline
💧3%
فقط من ماء الأرض عذبof Earth's water is fresh
❄️69%
من الماء العذب متجمدof freshwater is frozen
🏞️31%
من الماء العذب سائل متاحof freshwater is liquid
🧠
Always remember: Of all water on Earth: 97% is saline and not drinkable; only 3% is freshwater. Of this 3%: 69% is frozen and only 31% is available liquid. So usable freshwater is less than 1% of Earth's total water!
